JUKEBOX DINER

By: Eddie McPherson
CHARACTERS:  Approx. 13 women and 7 men

Abigail Baits runs the Jukebox Diner in the small town of Remington.  Nothing would make her happier than have her youngest child, Shelby, move back home, get married and give her lots of grandbabies.  The only problem with that plan is Shelby is a popular and successful country singer who now lives in Nashville.
When Shelby comes home to attend Uncle Roy’s memorial service, Abigail wastes no time putting her plan into motion by setting Shelby up on a blind date with Luke Duncan, a local fellow who hasn’t cared to make much of his life.
In the meantime, Abigail’s oldest, Jackson Baits, has never had the talent nor the guts to move out on his own.  He still lives with Abigail and works with her at the rundown diner.  His one and only dream is to get out of “this one-horse town” and make it big in the music industry.  Trouble is he…uh…can’t sing.  Through a string of misunderstandings, Jackson thinks Shelby has invited him to move to Nashville while he works on getting his music career off the ground.
To what lengths will Abigail get Shelby to stay forever in Remington?
How will Shelby break the news to her older brother that he’s a no-talent with a dead end dream?
