You'll be humming "Scooby Dooby Doo..." when you read this spooky mystery comedy because it feels just like an adventure from our favorite cartoon detective show! A motley crew of visitors, including the eccentric Ms. Flagg with her troupe of bickering high school science students, shows up for a weekend stay at Sammy's Swamp. In its prime, it was the beautiful Lake Shimmer Resort, but that was 30 years ago. Little do our visitors know that they are about to stumble upon a string of mysteries, including a mysterious swamp ghost that appears to scare away the brigade of intruders! Behind door 1-A lies a dark secret from the past, one that Deloris, the high-strung housekeeper, and the sinister Keeper of the Desk guard with their lives. Just like Fred from "Scooby-Doo," Justin, one of Ms. Flagg's sharpest students, thinks there's something fishy about Sammy's Swamp and its swamp ghost. When Mrs. Jolly, a newspaper reporter, arrives to snap pictures of the swamp ghost, she finds an old book of legends and reads "The Legend of Sammy's Swamp" to the group. A comic and dramatic tale of sweet success tainted by greed, betrayal and even murder comes alive onstage through a series of flashback sequences to reveal the secrets behind the downfall of the Lake Shimmer Resort. Someone among them is behind the swamp ghost, the mysterious moans from room 1-A, the disappearance of the resort's founder and the unsolved murder. But who? Join the meddling kids, a hobo named Clyde Peterson, a heartbroken Tanner Conners and a slew of other zany characters from the past to see how each one fits into the surprise ending of The Legend of Sammy's Swamp!
A wild, whacked-out circus of antics. Irresistibly funny! Crazy costumes, kookie characters, and weirdo stunts make this show an end-to-end laugh riot. A hilarious spoof of a phony circus sideshow with a seven-eyed woman, a two-headed man, a jungle girl, a ventriloquist, a Martian man, a gorilla and two surprise visitors from outer space. Starring fake-freak roles for a large cast of performers that want to really ham it up. Lots of crazy action as several teens try to save Mrs. Bucklewash's sideshow from closing down. They improvise their own sideshow acts after the star performer quits. Everything goes wrong but turns out wonderfully right. The kind of show that succeeds no matter what happens. One set, two acts. Cast: 12W, 5M, 9 to 15 optional extras. Age level: Middle grades to College. Playing time: 90 minutes, two acts. Purchase Of One Playbook Per Performer Is Required. THIS IS A ROYALTY PLAY. A two-act science-fiction spoof. UFOs! Mysterious creatures from outer space! Ill-disguised greed and heroic rescues! This hilarious spoof of low-budget sci-fi films captures all the horror-filled suspense and dramatic action everyone loves to hate. When a tea-bag-shaped UFO lands at Cactus Creek, the money-hungry Sheriff gets his hands on the strange creature inside. Eager for fame, he hooks up with two zany scientists, who plan to cut it up and analyze it. Their plans are thwarted by a group of snooping teenagers who plot to kidnap the creature and take it on the road. Only Katie, the #1 jailhouse janitor, and her crew of kind-hearted cleaning ladies have the alien's best interests in mind. Disguised as scientists, they try to stop the Sheriff's avaricious scheme, but their hilarious fumbletalk gives them away. The dumbhead Sheriff outsmarts himself, as do all the others, and the creature is returned to outer space unharmed. Uproariously silly situations make the show fun for both cast and audience. Cast: 9W, 6M, 4 optional. Middle Grades to High School. 2 acts, about 90 minutes. Includes 12 scripts and rights to reproduce copies.
